The Lockport Monday Night cruise season will open April 26 with a sock hop.
The annual dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. at South Lockport Fire Hall. Admission of $10 per person covers music, drinks, munchies and chances at prizes. Raffles and a 50-/50 split will be held.
All proceeds benefit the upcoming weekly cruises at Ida Fritz Park near the county courthouse.
The expense of running the free event is about $7,000 per year, according to Cruise Optimist Club member Bill Leacock. Much of the expense is covered by sponsors who are still being recruited, he said.
For more information about the hop, call 434-8134.
The first cruise-in of the 2008 season will be held May 12. Route 66, a six-time Buffalo music award winner, will perform and deejay Hank Nevins will spin the oldies.
