This year, old favorites and new arrivals will ring in the annual Taste of Lockport event.
Twenty-seven vendors — nine more than last year — will fill Ida Fritz Park from noon to 6 p.m. on Aug. 17, with food, drinks and music.
“It’s a great selection,” said Jeannie Wolf, event coordinator. “We have variety, from barbecue, to seafood, to American cuisine, to Italian. There’s a lot of different options for people to try.”
All vendors will accept cash.
At the end of the festival, winners will be crowned in several categories, including Best Appetizer, Best Sandwich, Best Entree, Best Dessert and People’s Choice.
The event will feature music from two local bands: The Flyin’ Blind Blues Band, from noon to 3 p.m., and Southbound, from 3 to 6 p.m.
“We suggest people bring some lawn chairs so they can sit and watch (the music) and eat,” she said. “I think we have some great entertainment this year, with both bands being from Lockport.”
Wolf said the event continues growing every year.
“The community is definitely really supportive,” she said. “We wouldn’t be able to have such a successful event without the help of the Lockport community.”
She said the restaurants have also been instrumental in making the festival a success.
“Year to year, it just gets better and better,” she said.
