Cruise Night marks year's final farmer's market

(Continued)

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

• It’s time for the annual Barker Retired Teachers luncheon. This year’s honored retirees are Kathy Schmitt, Gretchen Brown, and Tim Goldpenny. It will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Sunset Bar and Grill in Wilson. There will be an Italian buffet, including dessert. For more information, call Joan Mahar at 751-9670 or Marilyn Zaciewski or Ronnie Barhite.

• Barker Seniors resumes on Sept. 7 at the Barker Fire Hall, with Somerset Supervisor Daniel Engert as the guest speaker. To order your Niagara County Nutrition meal, call the Somerset Town Hall at 795-3575 before Sept. 5. Feeling lucky? The Seniors are sponsoring a bus trip on Sept. 17 to the Seneca Allegheny Casino. The Grand Tours bus leaves the Barker Fire Hall at 10 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m. For seniors with current dues paid, the cost is $20. Non-members are welcome to join the trip for $30. Each person receives $20 in casino money and a $5 meal voucher. Call Jo Ann Greenwald at 795-3787 to reserve a spot and pay at the first meeting.

• Catch the yard and bake sale at Countyline United Methodist Church, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 8. The church is near the corner of routes 18 and 269. You’ll find treasures for your trove and your tummy.

• Coming up on Sept. 9 is the annual Chinese Auction at St. Patrick’s Church site of Our Lady of the Lake Parish. This always-popular event features lots of baskets and side raffles. You need not be present to win. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. — no seating or ticket sales before then. Drawings start at 2 p.m. Pizza and refreshments available for sale. They also have an annual cash and gas raffle drawing at the auction, and tickets are available now. First prize is $100 cash, second is a $100 gas card, third is $50 cash and fourth is a $25 gas card. Tickets are available from Rosary Altar members, at Thee Barker Store, or I’ll have some at the farmer’s market in Barker on Thursday. Tickets are six for $5.
