Cruise Night marks year's final farmer's market

• Retire your worn or damaged American flags in a proper way, with a flag-burning ceremony at 1 p.m. Sept. 9. Sponsored by the Herbert W. Carr American Legion Post 425, the burning will be held at the home of Commander Wayne Wagner, 1923 Johnson Creek Road, Barker. It’s a great way to teach your children about the prosper respect for our American flag, and everybody is welcome.

• The Food Express program drop-off at Faith United Methodist Church will be moved to Sept. 10, due to the Labor Day holiday. The regular delivery, on the first Monday of the month, will resume in October. This fresh food delivery is for people with limited income. To determine if you are eligible, call 795-9945 fro the guidelines.

• Did you serve in the military? Be a part of the proud member of the American Legion and continue being a voice in your community. The local Herbert W. Carr Post 425 resumes meetings at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 after a summer break. Come as a guest and meet the members at the Lions Community Building on Main Street in Barker. • Sign up now for a Niagara Wine Tour, sponsored by the Barker Free Library Friends. The tour takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 15 and the cost is $45 per person. It includes a tasting at each winery, a light bag lunch, transportation and a souvenir wine glass with charm. Tickets are available at the library, the Thursday farmer’s market or from any Friends member.
