Don’t forget the Lockport Exchange Club Charity Ring Circus at Kenan Arena tomorrow and Saturday. Tickets are on sale at Kenyons, Ace Spaulding Hardware or from Exchange Club members, and are good for any of the three shows, 7 p.m. Friday and 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday. Nels Ross of In Jest returns as a headliner, there is a new aerial act from Colorado, Buffalo and Brandy return, and so do the Flips, martial arts display, the CRS Band, the Lockport Circus Clowns and some friends from Niagara Clown Alley. You’ll be helping over 25 local charities supported by the Exchange Club. Parking is free and tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids at the door.
Olcott United Methodist Church will hold a turkey dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The menu includes turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, squash, cranberry sauce, dessert and beverage and the cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 10. The church will also offer food and music from noon to 5 p.m. March 2 during the Polar Bear Day festivities.
Race against the Polar Bear. Join YMCA Camp Kenan and Score This for the 18th annual Polar Bear 5K Run. The event takes place Sunday, starting from the Olcott Volunteer Fire Company hall. There is a free 1-mile fun run for kids starting at 9:30 a.m. (not eligible for group awards). The 5K race kicks off at 10 a.m., and participants can “Race against the Polar Bear.” If you beat the bear to the finish line, you receive a shirt that says “I Beat the Bear.” If the bear wins, you receive a shirt that says “Can’t Believe The Bear Beat Me.” There is an award ceremony and free pancake breakfast for registered runners at the fire hall following the race. Non-runners can purchase pancake breakfast coupons at the Lockport Family YMCA, for $5 presale or $7 at the door. Get details and register at www.campkenan.com.
