Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — NEWFANE — The town board adopted a resolution Wednesday opposing any use of group homes in the town to house convicted sex offenders.
The resolution comes in the wake of news that seven convicted sex offenders were released from a secure facility in Monroe County and housed in group homes in West Seneca.
"Nobody will ever convince me that sex offenders should ever be allowed back into society," deputy town supervisor Marcus Hall said.
There are two group homes for developmentally disabled persons in the town, on Dale Road and Lockport-Olcott Road.
The board members' vote on the resolution was unanimous. The resolution will be forwarded to the Niagara County Legislature.
