Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Nominations for the Niagara History Center's annual "Key to the Locks" award are being taken throughout this month.
The award goes to one Niagara County resident who "best promotes and exemplifies the community spirit, heritage and integrity of the historic Erie Canal," according to the History Center. This year's award will be presented May 4 at the Erie Canal Discovery Center.
To nominate a candidate, complete a nomination form, which can be obtained from the History Center, 215 Niagara St., the Niagara County Historian's Office, or www.niagarahistory.org.
All nominations must be received by April 1 at the History Center or the county historian's office. The winner will be determined by a selection committee. For more information, contact Ray Wigle at 434-7433 or Craig Bacon at 439-7324.
