Friday is free family Movie Night in the Pratt Elementary School Cafetorium. The event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Barker PTSA. Everyone is invited.

Do you know someone planning to schedule a road test? Barker High School is offering the New York State DMV’s five-hour pre-licensing class for all permit-holders, from any community, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the high school library. The fee for the class is $30 per student, with checks payable to Barker Central School. The five-hour certificate will be issued immediately at the conclusion of the class, so students must bring their learners’ permit to class with them. You can pre-register by calling James Cantella, director of adult education, at 795-3203, ext. 7315. Walk-ins are welcome on the day of the course.

It’s pancake and Chinese auction time. Stop by the Barker Fire Hall from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, where the Barker Lions will be cooking up a fundraiser for Barker School’s Foreign Language Club. The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash-browned potatoes, sausage, toast, juice and coffee or tea. The cost is $6 for adults, $4 for kids 12 and under and children under 3 eat free. You can get a family ticket for $20, which includes two adults and three children. There will also be a Chinese auction, so come and try your luck. Winners need not be present.

Support the work of Niagara Hospice by purchasing a bouquet of fresh flowers during their annual Spring Bouquet Sale, from March 3 to 9, available at many locations throughout the county. Kim Matheis be offering them for sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Barker Fire Hall during the pancake breakfast, in honor of the many local residents who used Hospice services.
