Cast of 1993 Newfane High play reunites

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — NEWFANE — The cast of a Newfane High School 1993 musical went back “Into The Woods” on Saturday.

Newfane alumnus Jason Strong, 39, played “Jack” in the 1993 school production of Into The Woods. Through Facebook, he arranged for several members of the original show to attend this year’s presentation of the fairy tale-themed musical.

“It was really neat to get everyone together and see the same show that we worked on so many years ago,” Strong said. “It was a cool reunion.”

Also in attendance were Moose and Michelle Erbacher, conductor and director of the 1993 show respectively.

““Into The Woods” always seems to create close bonds between the members of the cast,” Moose said. “The 1993 production was one of those rare moments when gifted performers who are also beautiful people were brought together- it was great to have the family reunited!”

Strong, a computer technician living in Rochester, said many of his cast mates still live in Newfane or surrounding areas.

“Some of them even have children in the play,” Strong said, noting that the musical has roles for several younger children.

Facebook made the event much easier to plan and organize, Strong said.

“Ten years ago, without social networking, it was much harder to get big groups together,” Strong said. “Now it’s so much easier to stay connected with everyone from your past.”
