Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — State Assembly Member Jane Corwin’s third annual Western New York Food Drive will begin next week in the 144th Assembly District.
Various libraries in Niagara and Erie counties are acting as collection sites where canned goods and non-perishable items can be dropped off by residents. The donations are forwarded to a half-dozen food pantries in Niagara, Erie and Orleans counties.
“After the holiday season, donations of food and clothing begin to slow down and charitable organizations run low on supplies. We want to help those organizations in Western New York that help those in need, by ... aiding them in re-stocking their supplies,” Corwin, R-Clarence, said.
Donation drop-off sites are the public/free libraries in Lockport, Middleport, Newfane, Clarence and Akron. Donations also can be dropped off at Corwin’s district office, 8180 Main St., Clarence.
The food drive will be ongoing from March 31 through May 2.
