Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Good morning dear readers: How’s everyone this week? Spring has sprung. Like me, I bet you are all looking forward to some great weather. I really hope March goes out like a lamb.

The election for Wilson Village Trustee took place last Tuesday, and our congratulations go to winner Gary Darnell, who will serve a four-year term.

An American Red Cross Blood Drive will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. today at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Young and McChesney streets, Wilson. For an appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or walk-ins are welcome. All presenting donors will receive a limited edition “Not All Heroes Wear Capes” window decal.

The Wilson Historical Society will host Erica Wanecski as she presents “The Medicine Show: Nostrums, Notions and Patent Medicines” at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Barnum Building, 645 Lake St. Wanecski will be speaking on the history of medicinals, beginning with herbal remedies used by the Native Americans. Refreshments will be served.

The annual budget hearing for the Wilson Central School District will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the school auditorium. The Wilson budget was one of only three in the state to be voted down last year. Before casting your vote on May 20, gather as much information as possible and know the impact your vote will have. Attending the budget hearing is the best way to get the facts and get your questions answered before stepping inside the voting booth.

I would like to encourage everyone to attend the 4th Annual Save-A-Pet Basket Bonanza at noon Sunday at the South Lockport Fire Hall, Ruhlmann and S. Transit roads. Basket and cash donations are still being accepted, and all proceeds go directly to help the animals. Call 559-3020 to donate or to have your donation picked up. Single items are accepted.
