Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Lockport author Marc Pietrzykowski will host a launch party for his two new books Friday at the Tuscarora Inn on Walnut Street.
The party will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and include a buffet of snacks from DeFlippo’s restaurant as well as a cash bar.
Pietrzykowski, who runs publishing company Pski’s Porch, will be releasing his second novel “The Emissary” and his sixth book of poetry, “Straddling the Sibyl.”
Pietrzykowski describes “The Emissary” as a cerebral thriller.
“It focuses on a series of murders which take place at a nursing home,” Pietrzykowski said. “I don’t want to give away too much, but there’s a big twist at the end.
“Straddling the Sibyl” includes a poem which lights on people’s relationship to technology and how it affects self-image, Pietrzykowski said.
Pietrzykowski has been writing since his teens, about 30 years. He started publishing 13 years ago. He and wife Ashley moved to Lockport from Atlanta seven years ago when he landed a teaching job at NCCC, where he teaches English, creative writing and science fiction.
At Friday’s book release party, instead of doing readings himself, Pietrzykowski will invite anyone who wants to read a selection of his work, and record it to be uploaded to YouTube. Participants will receive a free drink chip and be entered into a raffle for a new Kindle.
“It’s going to be a fun time,” Pietrzykowski said.
