'Wilson Wave' rolling on toward Saturday walk

Local children’s author Carol Caisse will read from and discuss two of her books at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at Wilson Free Library. Mrs. Caisse, a retired high school English teacher in the Newfane district, is the author of Jake Grape and the Snake and Jake Grape and the Lost Ball. Her son, Ryan Caisse, illustrated the books. Mrs. Caisse’s visit is arranged by one of her former students, Chris Srock, who’s now a Wilson resident, library patron and parent.

An Italian dinner will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at Exley United Methodist Church, 338 Lake St., Wilson. Pasta with meatballs, salad, desserts and beverages will be served; take-out service will be available. For more information, call 751-6057.

Also at Exley, the grief share group is still meeting at 7 p.m. Mondays.

Ed Goodnight will be a local leader in the Worldwide Photo Walk, set to take place from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 5 in various places including Wilson.

Ed, whose photos of Wilson student athletes are well known here, will lead photographers on a walk past all manner of photo-worthy subjects including the harbor, historic sites, architecture, churches and the high school. Save the date: The seventh annual Wilson Central School Athletic Wall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Wilson Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 hall. This year’s inductees include Jamie Feagin, Bob Hartz, Coach Allyn Perry, the 1964-65 boys basketball team and the 1979 boys track and field team. Tickets cost $25 each; get them by calling Athletic Director Jeff Roth, at 751-9341, extension 175, or writing to jroth@wilson.wnyric.org.
