Thank you to all the folks who supported the annual auction by the Eastern Niagara Hospital’s Newfane Branch Auxiliary. Whether you donated a prize, baked cookies, volunteered or attended the auction, it helps support our local hospital in many ways.

Here are this week’s odd trivia facts to mull over with your coffee. Dogs and cats consume more than $11 billion worth of pet food a year. Thirty-five percent of the people who use personal ads for dating are already married. The wingspan of a Boeing 747 is actually longer than the distance of the Wright Brother’s first flight. Possums have one of the shortest pregnancies for mammals, just 16 days. In England, the Speaker of the House is not allowed to speak. An ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain. If you tried to count the stars in the galaxy at the rate of one every second, it would take around 3,000 years to count them all. In the last 4,000 years, no new animals have been domesticated.
