Don’t miss tonight’s great program at the library. Thanks to Young Audiences of Western NY and a grant from The NY Council for the Humanities, Newfane Library will be hosting the musical group Diaspora Drumming. Their program, Wood That Sings, takes their audience through time and across oceans, tracing the path of rhythms and musical instruments across the globe. The performance includes music from Guinea, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico and the United States. Children of all ages are invited to attend this free event.
You have until Saturday to erase the fines on your overdue books at the Newfane Library. During Food For Fines week, they will accept non-perishable food donations for the community food pantry in lieu of fines.
My Lockport Exchange Club Circus friends will be serving up a family breakfast at from 7:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Shamus Restaurant, 98 West Ave., Lockport. The menu includes eggs, sausage, sweet rolls, orange juice and coffee for $5; $3 for children. The clowns won’t be in costume, but those zany guys can always make you smile. All proceeds benefit the many local charitable organizations supported by the Exchange Club.
Give the gift of life by donating to the American Red Cross blood drive at Faith Lutheran Church in Newfane, from 1 to 6 p.m. Nov. 11. The church is at 2730 Transit Road, Newfane.
Newfane’s First Baptist Church on East Avenue will offer a free turkey dinner with all the trimmings from 5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 15. Everyone is invited and welcome to this thankful feast.
Coming up is Holiday Art Weekend, when Shoppe on Main will offer discounts on fabric, wood and glass, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 22. On Nov. 23, jewelry, chocolates and Longaberger in stock are on sale. There will be three local authors signing their books. Ron Mazzarella, author of “There’s A Whale In The Canal,” will sign from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jim Toner, author of two youth murder mysteries,”Under The Blood” and “The Purity Ring” and David Brown, author of “The Elusive Chauffeur,” will sign from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
