(Continued)

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Lions Club Awards Dinner slated

At the Wilson Lions Club's 11th Annual Awards Dinner on June 16, Janet Hoffman will be awarded "Citizen of the Year" and Robert Colangelo will be named "Hometown Hero." The dinner takes place at the Wilson Boathouse Restaurant.

Wilson student news

Congratulations to the 24 eighth-grade students who earned “25 Book Club” status for three consecutive years in middle school. This week, they will be treated to a field trip in Buffalo, visiting an eclectic, one-of-a-kind book store and the Albright Knox Art Gallery. Also this week, the Wilson Winners from the middle school will take their annual field trip to Sky Zone.

Congratulations to the just-announced 2014 inductees to the Wilson Athletics Wall of Fame. The 1999 Girls Soccer Team, coached by Meg Thompson; Ed Goodnight, supporter; Ray Groff, coach; Ed Kiely, Meghan McCabe and Roger Moore, athletes. They will be inducted during homecoming weekend in the fall.

If you would like to play in the Wall of Fame golf outing, scheduled for July 26 at Oak Run, contact athletic director Jeff Roth. The outing helps raise money for the induction ceremony and two annual scholarships.

Village of Wilson tops in recycling

Congratulations village people. The Village of Wilson is the 2013 recycling champion in terms of percentage of trash recycled — 21 percent — according to Modern Corp. Other cities and towns came close, but we are the champions.

Send your good news from the Wilson, South Wilson and Ransomville areas to bettyhaag@verizon.net (email text only, no attachments except photos in .jpg format), or call 751-4146. To see it in next week's Shoreline Byline, please pass it along before 5 p.m. Thursday.
