Stroll Around Newfane: There's plenty to do this weekend around Newfane

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — It’s Relay For Life and Father’s Day weekend, and there’s lots to do for dad around town. There’s something for golfers, gardeners, car enthusiasts and more. Take advantage of the events that support your community. Why not take dad or granddad on a carousel ride at Olcott Beach Carousel Park? That’s a scrapbook photo you will treasure. Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, grandfathers, adoptive and foster fathers, youth leaders, scout leaders and teachers who act as fathers do, with positive influence of our children.

Lions Club golf raffle slated

Golfers will want to attend the Newfane Lions Club Golf Raffle fundraiser. Winners will take home more than $4,000 in prizes plus 50/50 draws and side raffles. The event takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Newfane Pro-Am Par 3, 2501 Lockport Olcott Road. The $20 admission includes lunch and beverages. Get tickets from any Lions member.

Father’s Day car show

The 11th annual Father’s Day Car Show takes place at 6161 McKee Road, Newfane. Register cars from 9 a.m. to noon; show cars pay an entrance fee. The show runs from noon to 5 p.m. and benefits the Miller Hose Fire Co. Admission and parking are free, and there will be a chicken barbecue from noon to sell-out. Go to www.millerhose.org for more information or to register your car.

Gazebo concerts to begin

Concerts in the Olcott Gazebo on Main Street begin this Sunday, with a 2 to 4 p.m. performance by Pocket Change, a local band led by Dave Stockton. They play everything from pop to rock and jazz. On June 22, the band will be Minglewood, a blues band led by Olcott’s Rob and Joe Guido. Emerald Isles, a well-known Celtic band, takes to the gazebo on June 29. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the best of local musicians.
