CHATTERBOX: Farmer's Market; beer, bands and bikes on tap

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — • You could win a handcrafted black walnut flag case, with a 5 by 9 foot American flag, for just a $1 donation to Herbert Carr American Legion Post. The case was crafted by wood artist Jon Hotaling. It will be on display at his market booth every Thursday or you can get a ticket from any Legion member. Proceeds will send a local youth to Boy’s State.

• Stop by for a free breakfast this Friday from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church. Free breakfast and coffee, pleasant atmosphere ‘egg’cepional morning of great food, hot coffee and relaxing conversations. Bring your newspaper and a friend or two. 1449 Quaker Rd. 795-9945 for info

• The Barker Fire Department is gearing up for “Beer, Band and Bike Night” to be held from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday at the Barker Fire Hall and pavilion. Admission is free and the first 100 registered bikers will receive commemorative pins. Niagara County Custom Cycle will judge the bike show, from 6 to 9 p.m. Look for cash prizes, cold beer, food and merchandise vendors, 50/50 draws and more fun, whether you’re a biker or not.

Paul Cummings from the American Firehouse Tour will be playing prior to the main band, 90 West. If there are any vendors interested in participating, please contact Jennifer at 930-6788. The community is invited to stop by to support our local volunteer firefighters and the work they do for us all year.

• There will be a Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue on July 24 to raise funds for our amazing Challenger Sports League for handicapable kids and adults. Dinners are $9 and will be available from 3 to 7 p.m. or sell-out. Drive by and pick up dinner at the Ray Lee Fields in the Lockport Little League facility on Lincoln Ave. in Lockport (behind the Allie Brandt’s bowling alley).
