Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — YOUNGSTOWN — The new Niagara Jet Adventures, ready to launch boat tours along the lower river this year, is planning a job fair Wednesday at the Village Center, 240 Lockport St.
The job fair is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center (the Red Brick School). The company is looking to fill a variety of part- and full-time positions in retail, customer service, tour guiding, marketing, boat staffing and management. Applicants with boating experience and service in the hospitality industry will be given preference.
Local businessman Mike Fox and his partner, boat builder Chris Bohnenkamp of Boise, Idaho, said that in addition to regular trips between Youngstown and the Whirlpool, south of the Robert Moses Power Plant, they intend to make their two boats available for sunset cruises, weddings and destination outings as far away as Wilson.
Spokesman Aaron Dey said the company will offer whitewater and historical river tours most of the year, except when ice conditions occur, since the new fleet is all-enclosed and climate-controlled. Passengers who prefer experiencing the full effect of the ride may opt for the “wet deck,” the exposed portion at the rear of the vessel.
Niagara Jet Adventures will be the second such boat service operating along the lower river. The Whirlpool Jet, a 20-year-old company based on the Canadian side, currently operates tours between Niagara-on-the Lake, Ontario, and Lewiston to the Whirlpool area.
The new jet boats will depart from the Fox Boyz Marina, 555 Water St., next to the Youngstown Yacht Club.
