SHORELINE BYLINE: Children's gardening project slated at library

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Good morning, dear readers: How’s everyone this week? This is the last column for April. I’m taking a little time off for some rest and relaxation. Never mind the flower bulbs peeking out of the snow, I saw my first sure sign of spring today, when my neighbor took the snow plow off the front of his truck and attached the power washer trailer on the back.

Celebrate Gardening and Nature, sponsored by Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Niagara County and 4-H clubs, will take place at 6:30 tonight at the Wilson Free Library community room. The event will feature story time and gardening projects for 5- to 7-year-olds. Call Bonnie at 433-8839, ext. 240, or the library at 751-6070 to pre-register and for more information about upcoming workshops. Children do not have to be enrolled in 4-H to participate.

From the Support Our Schools organization: “We did it! Thank you to everyone who helped W. H. Stevenson win a visit from Andy Parker’s Weather Machine. The children are extremely excited and are grateful to their community for pulling together and making their wish come true.”

Good luck to Wilson high School senior Matt Foster, who will be leaving for New York City today to compete at the International Auto Show.
