Workers Memorial service planned

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — NIAGARA FALLS — The 23rd annual Workers Memorial Day will be observed Saturday at the Workers Memorial Monument in Reservoir Park.

Members of the labor community, family and the general public are welcome to join in the annual tribute to those who died from work-related injuries. There will be an Honor Guard salute, a bagpipe presentation of Amazing Grace and the raising of flags in memory and in honor of the men and women of Niagara and Orleans counties, as well as the nation, who gave their lives to the job. Taps will be blown by the Lone Bugler.

The ceremonies will begin with a continental breakfast at 9 a.m. at the park, under cover. The monument will be blessed and guest speakers will begin a one-hour program at 10 a.m.

The park is located off Route 31, north on Lewiston Road (Military Road) at the base of the Power Authority Reservoir.

For more information, call Bill Jakobi at 216-4582 or send an email to bill@uwgn.org.
