Chatterbox: Treat mom to a chicken barbecue dinner Sunday

Students from the Men’s Chorus at Barker High School, led by Drew Burke, will be guest performers at the Lock City Glee Club Spring Concert, “Voices in Song” on May 17 at the Lockport Palace Theatre. Also joining the program are students from Wilson High School and it promises to be an excellent evening of fun and song. Tickets for Voices in Song are on sale now at the Palace Theatre, 2 East Ave. or at Mills Jewelers, 51 Main St. They can also be ordered  through the Glee Club website at www.LockCityGleeClub.org at $10 for adults or $8 for students. Tickets will also be available at the door for $12 the night of the concert.

Get your ticket now for the Barker Fire Department’s Spring Raffle and spaghetti dinner on May 18. Your $20 ticket includes dinner, beer and pop and a chance to win 20 great prizes, including a $1,000 cash door prize. The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. with side raffles, 50/50, pull tabs and more. Doors open at noon; everyone must have a ticket. Get your ticket from any Barker fireman while they last.

Area senior citizens are invited to the monthly lunch put on by the Oldies With Goodies group at Hess Road Wesleyan Church. After a winter hiatus, the group resumes its luncheons at noon May 13. Doors open at 11:30. May’s menu is chicken and biscuits and the welcome is warm. To reserve a spot, call Katie Denny at 778-9607 or Alice Balcom at 795-3669. The cost is a suggested donation of $3. Lunches continue on the second Tuesday each month through December. Join your friends and neighbors or make new friends over a leisurely home-cooked luncheon. The church is at 2514 Hess Road, and the hall is handicapped accessible.

The Somerset Conservation Club is selling tickets for its spring prize raffle. Win one of six great prizes. Tickets are $5 and will be available at Thee Barker Store, The 3 Bears Café or Somerset Town Hall, or by calling Mike Flint at 795-3782, Paul Higgins at 796-1127 or any conservation club member. The drawing is May 28.
