WILSON — A candidate for Wilson school board trustee has withdrawn her name from the May 20 ballot.
Cynthia Smith of Wilson-Cambria Road is no longer be running for one of three open spots on the board, leaving three incumbents and two newcomers to compete for the spots.
The district posted a notice on its website Monday indicating additional candidates would be welcomed in the race, if they filed petitions signed by at least 25 people no later than 4 p.m. Tuesday.
According to district clerk Joanne Seefeldt, section 2018 of state Education Law says petitioning is to be re-opened when a listed candidate drops out of the race. As of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, no additional petitions had been filed.
Barring a last-minute valid filing, candidates in the election are incumbents George Waters and Don DeLisi;Ransomville residents Patricia Munnikhuysen and Frank Cipolla; and former board member Timothy Kropp of Wilson.
