Stroll Around Newfane

(Continued)

Here’s a holiday gift idea for all homemakers. Rainbow of Help will be selling their cookbook — while they last — all wrapped and ready for gifting, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 14 outside Budwey’s Market in Newfane. If anyone wants a cookbook, but will not be in the area during those times, call Debbie Bartenstein at 698-4916 or Bob MacFarlane at 695-4219.

Stop by the Holiday Open House at The Blue Lady on Main Street in Olcott from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday. Browse through the holiday and winter wares as you sip hot cocoa in this historic Greek-revival storefront with a warm and happy atmosphere.  Play the vintage bingo machine for a chance at discounts off one item of your choice.

Join Santa Claus and his helpers at Sunday’s 5th annual Breakfast with Santa and a basket auction by the Newfane Lions Club. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. at the Olcott Fire Hall, 1691 Lockport-Olcott Road. Photos with Santa will be available. There will be door prizes for those having breakfast, including a boy’s and girl’s bicycle. Anyone can stop by to take a chance in the basket auction. Drawing begins at 12:30 p.m. and winners need not be present. If you can donate a basket or prize, call 778-7243. All proceeds benefit Newfane Lions charities and programs in the community.

Newfane’s Annual Holiday Light Up and Parade begins with a 5:30 p.m. parade on Dec. 6, when Santa arrives on a horse-drawn wagon. If anyone is interested in participating as a parade entry, call Tammy Dodge at 778-8558, ext. 2232. Talk to Santa at the Main Street gazebo; everyone enjoys hot chocolate and cider, with free cookies.

Dec. 6 also brings the 8th Annual Candy Cane Craft Show and Cafe from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Newfane United Methodist Church, 2699 Main St. This year’s show has both new and returning craftsmen. There are some exciting items for sale, made by several talented people. In addition, the café will again offer delicious homemade hot food at reasonable prices. A bake sale includes cookie platters as well as many other goodies. The church is handicap accessible, with an elevator in the rear of the building.
