Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Well folks, there are only 14 days until Christmas! I hope that spurs you to partake in some of the festive events that make the season sparkle with fellowship and joy. Do you know someone who is sitting on the sidelines, without family or companionship? Why not invite them to a concert or show, or even just for a friendly cup of coffee? We are all rushed at this time of year and everyone is searching for the perfect present, to give and to get. In truth, the best gift you have to offer is the gift of your time and compassion. No gift you give will be appreciated more.
Remind the kids that the big red Santa Mail box is outside the Barker Store, and all letters go directly to the North Pole. With a complete return address, Santa may even find time to answer!
Get in the holiday spirit with a great musical performance at 7 p.m. Thursday by the Barker High School Chorus and Band in the Herbert Ludwig Auditorium. The High School Chorus appears the next day with the BPO Holiday Pops at Kleinhans. Barker will be performing at the 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. concerts on Friday only. Students can purchase tickets at a 50 percent discount; family and staff tickets are discounted by 30 percent. Call BPO sales coordinator Jeffrey Nieman at 885-5001. What a great Christmas experience this would be for any family. I have to mention that the Pratt Elementary concert last week was fabulous. We are truly blessed in Barker with an amazing music department.
