Sunday is AFS Carnival Day at Barker School, in the big gymnasium. Bring the family from 1 to 4 p.m. to enjoy all kinds of games and fun to support our student exchange trips in the American Field Service. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, cotton candy and beverages for sale. Kids can play soccer kick, dart throw, duck pond, fish pond or get face painting. The popular Chinese auctions are back and there will be a baked goods sale.

Get a kick out of soccer! Kids can also sign up at Sunday’s AFS carnival for this summer’s session of Barker Lighthouse Optimist Soccer. LOSL is open to any child who is now in Pre-K through 12th grade. The second sign-up will be held at the Barker Free Library, from 10:30 a.m. to noon March 23. Get information and a registration form at www.lighthousesoccer.com. You can mail your registration and check or money order to Lighthouse Optimist Soccer, P.O. Box 145, Barker, NY 14012. Registrations must be postmarked by March 31 to avoid late fees. The cost this year is $25 per player, or $65 for three or more children in the immediate family; prices double after March 31. Late registrations will be accepted through April 30 with the additional fee; no registrations will be accepted after that date. The summer soccer season will run from June 30 through July 31. Pre-K through eighth graders will play from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Pending sufficient interest, ninth through 12th graders will play from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
