Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — NYPA hosting civil rights exhibit
LEWISTON — The New York Power Authority will host a special exhibit on civil rights during Black History Month beginning Monday at the Power Vista, the visitors center for the Niagara Hydroelectric Power Plant.
“Civil Rights: Then and Now,” focuses on two American milestones, featuring photos and essays on the landmark Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision in 1954 and the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964. Students at area schools were invited to submit materials on these important events to help create the exhibit.
The Power Vista, at 5777 Lewiston Road, features displays and interactive exhibits relating to the production of electricity, energy efficiency and the Niagara area’s history, plus spectacular views from the observation deck 350 feet above the Niagara River Gorge. Parking and admission are always free.
