A 'love fest' for Tyler; scouts happenings

(Continued)

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — • Tickets are now available for the annual Barker Veterans Dinner, to be held on November 11 at the Barker Fire Hall. As we lose more of our veterans each year, it is even more important to show them the respect and gratitude they deserve. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and a fabulous buffet dinner by Donna Eick is served at 5 p.m. There will be a moving tribute to our vets including music by the Barker Concert Choir, under the direction of Drew Burke, and the mellow sounds of the Vignettes, Ann Leuer, Sue Rose and Karen Corwin. Special guest speaker will be US Army Capt. Richard J. Kelley. Capt. Kelley was in the infantry platoon in Vietnam and was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Army Commendation with V Device for Valor and an Oak leaf Cluster, two Purple Hearts and a Combat Infantry Badge. All area veterans are invited to attend, free of charge, but they must get a special ticket or make a reservation. The cost for spouses and others is $10 (half price for kids under 12) and tickets are available at Somerset Town Hall, Thee Barker Store, Three Bears Café or by calling chairman Wally Coates at 795-9948.

Deadline is 6 p.m. Sunday. Send your news to juliechatterbox@msn.com (no attachments except MS Word and jpeg please) 795-9262 or to 8691 Lake Road, #9, Barker 14012.
