CHATTERBOX: Baked goods are back at farmer's market

(Continued)

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

• Our neighbors in Hartland will be celebrating their Bicentennial with a grand celebration on July 28, from noon to 6 p.m. in the Hartland Town Park on Ridge Road. There will be a huge parade at noon, as well as food vendors, artisans, crafters and contests for adults and children. You’ll enjoy continuous music, historical encampments, horse and wagon rides, vintage tractor displays and much more, so save the date for old-fashioned fun. Get all the celebration details at www.townofhartland.org.

• Get tickets now for the Barker Fire Dept.’s annual Beer and Band night on July 28. Live music will be provided by Civil Unrest from 9 to 1 a.m. Doors open at 8 p.m. and there is a $5 admission/cover charge. There will be plenty of hamburgers, hot dogs, an assortment of beer and malt beverages and non-alcoholic drinks for purchase. There will be 50/50 drawings and a special raffle for the Fishing Fiend. It includes a rod and reel, tackle box and custom bait built by beaglecreekbait.com. For tickets call Jennifer Mason at 930-6788 or leave a message at the fire hall at 795-3011. Our Barker Volunteer Fire Co. is always in need of new members, male and female, to be ready for emergencies in our town. Why not you? For more information, drop by from 6:30 to 9 any Thursday night (drill night) or leave a message on their phone.

• Save the date! The Barker Pioneer Fest is coming on September 8 and you won’t want to miss it. The all-day event is sponsored by the Barker Business and Professional Assoc., and it promises to be an amazing celebration! Look for the BBPA float in Hartland’s Bicentennial Parade on July 28 or visit their tent at our Farmer’s Market on Thursdays. Sponsors and volunteers are needed for the event. For more information on sponsorship or the Battle of the Businesses, contact Julia Bender at 418-0187. Watch for more details.
