CHATTERBOX: Baked goods are back at farmer's market

(Continued)

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

• The 2012 Summer Reading “Dream Big; READ!” program is underway at Barker Free Library. Sign up for Creatures of the Night Story time on July 28 and Follow Your Dreams Story time on Saturday August 11. There will be stories, crafts, games and more! Story times are funded by a Grigg-Lewis Grant and sponsored by the NIOGA Library System. Stop in or call 795-3344 to register for any or all of these programs.

• Have a computer question? Come to the Barker Library during “Open Access” and get answers to your questions. Open Access refers to time on a computer with a trainer. Get hands-on practice on a computer. Patrons can get help on a wide range of computer topics. Lap top computers are provided for patron use during the session. Open access is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 28.

• The Somerset Town Wide Yard Sale makes a return on August 4, and if you want to be included on the map, you need to call the Somerset Town Hall at 795-3575. Maps will be available at local businesses and the town hall before the event so you can plan your shopping route. You can reserve a table for the sale on the grounds of Faith United Methodist Church, where they will also be selling hot dogs, beverages, baked goods and more, with rest rooms available. Call the church at 795-9945 for information.

• The annual Ice Cream Social and Barker Community Band Concert at Faith United Methodist Church is set for 6 p.m. on August 6. They will have a silent (write down your bids) basket auction as well and donations are appreciated. Our community band always puts on a sterling performance! The concert is free and ice cream may be purchased.

Have a gentle week and be thankful for your many blessings.

Sunday is the deadline for the Chatterbox. Send your news to juliechatterbox@msn.com (no attachments except MS Word and jpeg please) 795-9262 or to 8691 Lake Road, #9, Barker 14012.
