Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Good morning dear readers: How’s everyone this week? Did everyone have a fun Halloween? I did, except for the fact that I had purchased some really good peanut butter cups early in the month and didn’t have any left by Halloween. I had to make an emergency run to our new Dollar General store in Wilson to get some candy for Thursday night’s trick-or-treats.

The Wilson Golden Agers meeting is today at the Wilson Fire Hall, 250 Young St. Coffee and tea are served at 10 a.m. with the meeting at 11 a.m., followed by bag lunch. On the kitchen committee are M.K. Brown, J. Fleming and S. Roberts. The Golden Agers meet the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. For more information, call Sandy Yousett at 751-9284. The group is sponsoring a trip to the Savannah, Jekyll Island and Beaufort area from April 6 to 12. Election Day is tomorrow for local and county officials, and amendments to the State Constitution. Please study all the information you can about each of the candidates and issues. Contested races in the Wilson area are: Town Supervisor: Patrick A. Daul (D) vs. Joseph A. Jastrzemski (R,C,I). District 10 Niagara County Legislature: Christopher M. Srock (D,W,G) vs. David E. Godfrey (R,C,I). State Supreme Court Justice, 8th Judicial District: Mark A. Montour (D,C,W) vs. Paul B. Wojtaszek (R,I).

An Election Day Spaghetti Dinner and Basket Raffle will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ransomville Baptist Church, 2578 Youngstown-Lockport Road. The basket drawing will be at 6:30 p.m. The church is handicapped accessible. Take-outs will be available. For more information, call 791-4258 or 716-754-8834.

The Friends of the Wilson Free Library will be meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Community Room of the library. Any Friends member or anyone looking to become an active member is welcome to come to the meeting.
