COURTS: Drug charges delayed against teen accused in alleged bus assault

PORTER — One of the teens involved in an alleged assault on a Wilson school bus will have to wait a little longer for the charges against him in another court to be heard.

The case against 16-year-old Colton J. Sherman in Porter Town Court, where he is charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, was adjourned Tuesday night for a later date.

Sherman, along with fellow baseball players Christopher A. Sidote, 16, and Geoffrey A. Seefeldt, 18, also face charges in Wilson Town Court in connection with an alleged assault of at least two junior varsity baseball players during a bus ride April 17.

The trio were arrested April 25 after an investigation by state police and charged with third-degree aggravated sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

On May 7, Sherman was arrested again, this time in Ransomville.

Deputies reportedly stopped him and two other 16-year-old boys who were walking through the back parking lot of Ki-Po Chevrolet on Youngstown-Lockport Road, Ransomville.

According to the report, the boys were wearing dark clothing and told deputies they were “just cutting across the lot to go to a friend’s house.”

While deputies were patting down the boys for weapons, they reportedly noticed a bulge in Sherman’s right front pocket. When they asked him what was in his pocket, he reportedly pulled out a sock, inside which deputies reportedly found three clear plastic bags and tin foil.

One bag contained a white powdery substance, and another contained two white pills that Sherman identified as hydrocodone, the report said.
