Falls woman gets probation in Lockport robbery

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A Niagara Falls woman involved in a robbery of a Lockport gas station will spend the next five years on probation.

Ashley E. Bivins, 22, was sentenced Wednesday by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch, Sr. She had pleaded guilty to attempted third-degree robbery in February.

Upon hearing Bivins would continue to attend classes at Niagara County Community College and that the probation office wanted to work with her, the probation sentence was a proper one, Kloch said.

In January, James McClendon, 50, of Niagara Falls was sentenced to state prison for one and a half to three years for his role in the robbery.

According to an arrest report, Maacks and Shane Pearce, 24, of Walnut Street, were charged for the April 16, 2012, theft at Custom Crews on Old Niagara Road. Pearce has been assigned to the court’s judicial diversion drug treatment program.
