Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A Royalton man will serve 10 years of probation for sexual encounters with a 15-year-old girl.
Christopher B. LaForme Jr., 27, of Berner Parkway, was given a sentence Thursday by Niagara County Judge Sara S. Farkas that will include time already served in county jail and a host of conditions.
Among those conditions, LaForme will undergo drug testing and mental health treatment. He will also register as a Level 2 sexual offender.
Prior to the sentencing, Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth R. Donatello read a letter from the 15-year-old victim. In it, the victim gave a timeline of what happened with LaForme, while noting the effects the encounters had on her everyday life.
“It has affected my daily routine,” the victim wrote.
LaForme’s intelligence has been an issue with the case, even delaying his acceptance of a plea deal in November so proper documentation could be obtained. His IQ has been estimated at between 68 and 75.
LaForme’s attorney David Douglas said in court the goal was to have LaForme enter a group home.
LaForme pleaded guilty to third-degree rape, third-degree criminal sexual act, disseminating indecent material to a minor and second-degree criminal contempt.
LaForme, who made it to seventh grade in special education, had intercourse with the girl sometime between March and April 24. He had been sending the girl suggestive emails since January, and after a restraining order was imposed April 24, continued to do so. Numerous text and Facebook messages were sent between LaForme and the girl since April 24.
