Two Lockport men were arrested Tuesday and a third is being sought regarding a March 8 assault that took place on Waterman Street.
James L. Griggs, 25, 16 South St., Apt. 2, and Stanley B. Brown, 96 Locust, Apt. 8, were charged with gang assault. Another arrest is pending, police said.
On March 9, the patrol responded to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport regarding a report of an assault victim who had a swollen jaw and black and blue marks on his right eye. The victim did not want to provide information at that time.
The next day, police went to Elmwood Avenue to speak with the victim, who said he was at a woman’s apartment and there were two other men present.
The victim stated he was punched by one of the men and both males began punching and kicking him. The victim passed out, and when he woke up, he was at the bottom of the staircase, he said. He walked to a relative’s house on Gooding Street and stayed the night, according to the report.
When the victim awoke, his jaw was severely swollen, and his father took him to Erie County Medical Center for evaluation. The victim’s jaw is fractured and wired shut, according to the report.
On March 13, witnesses were located and questioned. Two of the suspects were identified, with the investigation continuing.
The victim and witnesses requested orders of protection as the result of death threats allegedly made by the assailants through a witness. A threat was also made to the victim by one attacker, the report said.
Griggs turned himself in and was arrested on Tuesday at 1:15 p.m.
