CITY OF LOCKPORT: Man suspected of causing accidents after dispute

City police apprehended a man suspected of causing several traffic accidents while fleeing the scene of a domestic dispute Thursday afternoon.

Jermaine Webster, 28, was arrested at a Vine Street home about 5 p.m..

Lockport Police Capt. Jeffrey Brodsky said the incident began with a domestic dispute that broke out in the parking lot outside the Butcher Shop at Lincoln Avenue and Davison Road.

Webster allegedly smashed the window of a car belonging to a woman, who was inside the car at the time.

Brodsky said Webster took the car, “leaving the victim and her infant child behind.”

Webster drove to his mother’s house on Vine Street, leaving “a series of traffic accidents” in his path, Brodsky said.

It’s unclear how much damage was caused in the traffic accidents.

Officers responded to the house on Vine Street and arrested Webster.

Webster is facing numerous criminal and traffic charges.

He suffered a cut to his hand, allegedly when he smashed the car window, Brodsky said.

Webster was charged June 30 with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

He allegedly swung at a man with a knife during a fight at the UAW Hall the day before.
