BLOTTER: Police reports published July 28

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal

City of Lockport

• DWI: Robert M. Spencer, 29, 61 Gabriel Drive, Apt. A, was charged early Saturday with driving while intoxicated and failure to signal after a 2:44 a.m. traffic stop on Niagara Street. Spencer allegedly failed several field sobriety tests.

Town of Lockport

• SUSPICIOUS: Deputies responded to the area of Slayton Settlement Road about 5:45 p.m. for a report of a suspicious man. They said they found a 21-year-old Newfane man walking on Lockport-Olcott Road. He reportedly said he needed a ride home because he was afraid the woman he was with was going to kidnap him. The man told deputies he and the woman had been walking in the nature park on Slayton Settlement Road, smoking marijuana, when he suddenly became afraid she was going to kidnap him and took off running. He said she did not attempt to kidnap him and did not talk about kidnapping him, but he said he “had a feeling” she might because of a dream he had. The man reportedly said the situation felt like deja vu to him. Deputies transported the man home, where two residents said the man would be OK and they would watch over him, the report said.

Wilson

• HARASSMENT: Deputies responded to Lake and Young streets Saturday evening for a report of a fight. A Maple Road man said he was having a discussion with another man about his son driving a car without insurance, when the son came out of the house and began to punch him several times in the head and face. The son reportedly admitted attacking the Maple Road man and said he was defending his father. The man refused treatment for injuries and did not want to press charges, the report said.

• ASSAULT: A19-year-old Laffler Street, Burt, man reported Sunday that he was standing outside a barn on Fitch Road about 3:30 a.m. when a man punched him in the head and broke his nose. The man said he continued to “hang out” for about 15 minutes, and then another man came up to him and punched him in the right eye, causing him to fall onto a piece of equipment, resulting in a cut above his eye. He was treated at Eastern Niagara Hospital-Newfane. The man told deputies he wished to press charges, and warrants were issued, the report said.

Lewiston

• DAMAGE: The owner of Wendt’s Propane on Ward Road reported Sunday that he arrived for work to find that one of the trucks had been driven into the garage door over the weekend. Damage to the garage door, worth about $2,000, was considerable, but the truck was not damaged, the report said. The man said there was no damage to the steering column of the truck to indicate someone was trying to steal it. There also was no evidence that anyone gained entry to the garage, the report said.

Clarence

• BURGLARY: Ronald J. Behm, 18, of Lockport, was charged Sunday morning with third-degree burglary in connection with an incident reported July 21 in Clarence. Behm was arrested on Tonawanda Creek Road and released on his own recognizance.
