Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — City of Lockport

NO LICENSE: Mark L. McPhail, 42, 493 Hawley St., was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to signal a turn Tuesday. Lockport Police said McPhail was set to appear this week in court.

UNLICENSED: Ernest P. Friend, 33, 74 Allen St., was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a valid inspection, failure to keep right, unsafe backing and an equipment violation Thursday. Friend is due in City Court on Monday.

MISCHIEF: A Locust Street resident reported that two tires on his vehicle were slashed while the vehicle was parked on Gabriel Drive. Police said slash marks were seen on each tire. The damage estimate is $250.

Town of Lockport

ACCIDENT: A one-vehicle crash on Dysinger Road at about 7:10 a.m. Wednesday led to property damage, according to New York State Police. No injuries were reported. 

Royalton

ACCIDENT: An accident involving one vehicle on Royalton Center Road at about 7:40 a.m. Thursday led to property damage, according to New York State Police. No injuries were reported.

Pendleton

HOUSE FIRE: The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a house fire on Old Tonawanda Creek Road around 8:40 a.m. Thursday. After confirming that the occupants had evacuated, a deputy entered the residence and discovered that smoke in the house was coming from the basement. The deputy and volunteers from Wendelville Fire Co. went through the house and determined that a defective forced air heater was emitting smoke. The power and gas to the heater were turned off and the appliance began to cool. No injuries or property damages were reported, the Sheriff’s Office said. 

ACCIDENT: A Lancaster man was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Campbell Boulevard around 9:40 a.m. Thursday, according to New York State Police. No other injuries were reported.

Newfane

ACCIDENT: A two-vehicle accident on East Avenue around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday led to property damage, according to New York State Police. No injuries were reported.
