Guns reported stolen from two Hartland men

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

HARTLAND — Two residents had guns stolen from their vehicles over the weekend, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office said.
Around 1 p.m. Sunday, an Ellicott Road man reported that two guns, a Remington 1187 12 gauge with scope and a Ruger model 77 .22 caliber Mag rifle with scope, were taken from his locked vehicle some time between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday.
The owner said he returned home from hunting Saturday and left the guns under some clothing in the back seat of his vehicle. Also reported missing from the vehicle were the owner's driver's license, pistol permit, wallet and a Boss hunting light, according to the sheriff's office. The estimated value of missing items is $3,100.
About 45 minutes later, the Sheriff's Office responded to a Checkered Tavern Road residence to field a report of a handgun being removed from the owner's unlocked vehicle some time between 4 p.m. Saturday and 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
The owner said he'd left the gun, a $60 La Fury 25 caliber ACP, in the glove box after target shooting Saturday, and thought to check his vehicle after hearing about the theft of guns on nearby Ellicott Road, according to the sheriff's office.
