Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Niagara County sheriff's deputies continue to search for the woman who allegedly robbed a South Transit Road credit union on Wednesday afternoon.
Dale Swain, no age or address given, is wanted for questioning in the 3:18 p.m. robbery at the Cornerstone Community Credit Union.
According to a report from the sheriff's department, deputies were dispatched to the credit union at 6485 South Transit Road, for "a robbery that had occurred ten minutes prior."
Patrol spoke with a bank executive who said that the suspect entered the main doors, and credit union tellers immediately recognized the woman as a frequent customer. According to the sheriff's report, the suspect had filed a claim with Cornerstone on March 11 for an incident in which she fell down in the parking lot.
After she entered the credit union, the suspect allegedly walked up to a teller and handed her a series of three notes demanding money. No weapon was displayed.
The teller handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then left the building hrough the main doors and entered the front passenger's seat of a red vehicle.
The license plate identification was obtained and it led deputies to the owner, a 71-year-old man who lives at 6309 Robinson Road. Sheriff's patrol and a K-9 unit went to the address.
The US&J learned that residents of the apartment complex confirmed the red Chevy Cavalier is often seen at the building. They said the description of the suspect, a black woman about 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weighing about 210 pounds and wearing a black turban and blue flannel jacket, has been seen in the building.
Deputies found the vehicle and its owner at his apartment building at 5:19 p.m. He was interviewed and information is being worked on regarding the female suspect in the robbery.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau continues to work on the case.
