Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A tenant of 5793 Sweetwood Drive reportedly was the victim of a gang assault and attempted robbery Saturday night at his residence.

According to the police incident report, released Monday by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the victim said he was contacted by an acquaintance and ended up inviting the acquaintance to his home. The acquaintance and a second man entered the home unannounced and immediately tried to rob the victim of cash.

When the victim refused to give the men his money, one of the men brandished a handgun, pulled the trigger — upon which nothing happened — then struck the victim over the head with the gun, the incident report said.

The two visitors began fighting with the victim and the fight moved outside, where four males exited a parked SUV and joined in pummeling the victim, the report said.

When a woman yelled at the aggressors to stop because she was calling the police, all six fled to the SUV and left the scene, the report said.

The victim was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport for treatment of a cut on his head.

One of the aggressors is named in the incident report and is wanted for questioning by the sheriff's office.
