Unknown man reportedly approaches young girl

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Niagara County Sheriff's deputies are investigating an incident Monday in which a Cambria girl said she was approached by an unknown man while walking to her home.

The girl, whose age was unreported, said she was dropped off by her school bus about 3 p.m. on Andrews Road. A dark green truck that had been following the school bus pulled into her driveway behind her and a man got out of the truck and began to approach her. The girl ran into her home and called her mother.

The man returned to his truck, described as dark green with black trim around the doors and drove off heading east.

The man, who did not say anything to the girl, was described as a 5-foot-7 white man in his 40s with a brown buzz cut and beard. He was wearing a short sleeve shirt and sweat pants or jeans that were dark in color. The truck was described as dark green, dirty, mud splashes around the wheels, an unknown object hanging from the door and black trim around the doors.

The girl and her mother looked over the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Offender Watch website and found a man who looked similar to the suspect.

The matter is being investigated and the sheriff's office said a deputy would be in the area today when the bus made its rounds.
