Eight face charges after DWI sweep

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Eight area residents face drinking-and-driving charges after they were caught up in DWI law enforcement sweeps over the weekend.

Jointly, New York State Police and the Niagara County Sheriff's Office operated two DWI checkpoints, one in Lockport this past Saturday night and the other in Pendleton on Sunday after the Buffalo Bills game. 

The New York State Police ran a pair of DWI checkpoints with the Niagara County Sheriff's Office this past weekend. State Police also assigned additional troopers to patrol duty around Niagara County on Sunday night.

Those facing charges include:

• Michael J. Beahr, 29, of Akron, charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated. According to police, Beahr's blood alcohol content was measured at 0.13 percent.

• Briana C. Paoli, 24, of Lockport, charged Saturday with driving with ability impaired. Police said Paoli's BAC was measured at 0.07 percent.

• Douglas W. Papke, 44, of North Tonawanda, charged Sunday with DWI. Police said Papke's BAC was measured at 0.12 percent.

• Roland Jamieson, 36, of North Tonawanda, charged Sunday with DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana. Police said Jamieson's BAC was measured at 0.09 percent.

• Gerald E. Starling, 53, of Williamsville, charged Sunday with DWI. Police said Starling's BAC was measured at 0.10 percent.

• Renee Larcom, 36, of North Tonawanda, charged Sunday with DWI and refusal to submit to a breath test.

• Michael A. Bovanizer, 32, of Niagara Falls, charged Sunday in Niagara Falls with DWI . Police said Bovanizer's BAC was measured at 0.12 percent.

• Francis J. Hansen, 51, of Niagara Falls, charged Sunday in the Town of Niagara with DWI. Police said Hansen's BAC was measured at 0.12 percent.

All eight received tickets to appear in court in October.
