Lockport man sentenced for federal drug charge

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A local resident was sentenced Tuesday for federal drug charges stemming from an August 2010 raid in Lockport.

U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced said Torano Spencer, 37, of Lockport, who was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, was sentenced to three years probation with three months electronic monitoring by Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Catherine Baumgarten, who handled the case, said between June 2009 and August 2010, Spencer distributed cocaine and cocaine base in the Lockport area which was supplied to him by co-defendant Eric Williams.

Spencer and Williams were among the 18 people scooped up in an August 2010 drug raid that stretched from eastern Niagara County to North Tonawanda. A total of 22 people have been convicted of related drug charges.

Williams, also of Lockport, was sentenced to five years in prison in September.
