Fugitive arrested in Beattie apartment

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A 19-year-old Lockport man who was listed on the police most wanted list was arrested in his Beattie Avenue apartment just after midnight Wednesday with two other people.

Sterling J. Jones, 299 Beattie Ave. was charged with obstruction of governmental administration. He was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and the suggested bail was $10,000.

Miranda Riley, 18, 299 Beattie Ave. and Steven R. Russell, 21, 50 Spruce St. were also charged with obstruction of governmental administration.

According to the report, the police went to the Beattie Avenue apartment in an attempt arrest Jones on a warrant. The mailbox was marked in his name.

The police could hear people in the apartment and knocked at the door but got no response. The police looked through the door and  could see Jones lying on the floor attempting to hide. 

He was ordered to come to the door, but he refused, along with the other occupants. Jones eventually came to the door and was arrested without incident.
