Cigarettes, lottery tickets taken in story burglary

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — GASPORT — The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a break-in that occurred over the weekend at the Yellow Goose convenience store at 7953 Rochester Road.

An employee told deputies when she arrived to open the store around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, she saw the front door window had been smashed.

Deputies searched the store and found no one inside. While searching the property, patrol found cigarette packs on the south side of the parking lot.

The employee said approximately 100 packs of cigarettes were taken, along with some lottery tickets and a tray of coins that was under the register.

The employee who closed the store also said she noticed a suspicious tan sedan parked unoccupied on the south side of the parking lot when she was leaving.

The approximate value of the cigarettes taken is $1,000. The number and value of lottery tickets was not given. Approximately $300 in coins were taken.
