Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Police have no leads in mischief spree

The tally of damages inflicted by persons on a tire-slashing, vehicle rifling spree last week exceeds $5,000, a Lockport police detective confirmed Tuesday.

Four days after the spree, which affected at least 19 vehicle owners in the areas of Erie Street, High Street, Beattie Avenue, Willow Street, HiPoint Drive, Haines Street, McIntosh Drive and the Emmet Belknap Intermediate School parking lot, police have no leads on the identity of the culprit(s), Detective Lt. Scott Seekins added.

LPD’s appeal to the public for tips and home security footage that might have captured acts of mischief in progress didn’t turn up anything, he said.

The spree apparently took place overnight March 28-29, after which police took 19 complaints regarding slashed tires and property missing from parked vehicles.

The value of ruined tires and stolen property, as estimated by the victims, is $5,460.
