Two men arrested in assault, attempted robbery at Ski Lodge

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A Lockport man and a Buffalo man were arrested after an assault and attempted robbery at the Ski Lodge on Niagara Street early Wednesday morning.

Michael A. Duchscherer Jr., 32, 5347 Fiegle Road, Lockport was charged with third-degree assault; third-degree attempted robbery; third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation; fourth-degree criminal mischief; failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and alcoholic beverage. 

Terrence M. Morath, 47 Lisbon Ave., Buffalo was charged with with third-degree assault, third-degree attempted robbery and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

According to the report, the police responded to the Ski Lodge for a 911 hangup call at 2:30 a.m. Officers were told that a robbery occurred and two men were suspects. The police saw their vehicle leave the lot across the street and drive toward Michigan Street. A witness said that the vehicle was involved and the offices on scene radioed the information.

The vehicle went down Michigan Street to South Niagara Street and to Heath Street. The police activated emergency lights, but the vehicle did not stop until it reached Park Avenue. Lt. Terry Gill and officer Laura Schuler made the successful stop.

According to the report, the victim was leaving the bar when the two men began punching him as he was getting into his vehicle. They attempted to reach into his pocket where he had his money.
