Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — CAMBRIA — A parent and a coach got into a fist fight during the first inning of a youth baseball game at Niagara County Community College before 9 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
The patrol responded to a baseball field on the campus for a fight between a parent and a coach about 8:50 a.m. The coach, who is from Lancaster, stated that during the first inning one of the parents came onto the field and began yelling and swearing at him about his child not playing. They were both swearing at each other when the parent threw a punch, knocking the coach's hat off, according to the coach.
The coach defended himself, throwing a couple of punches and holding the parent down telling him that was enough. The parent got up and left with his child.
Deputies contacted the parent, who said that he did come onto the field and start an argument with the coach. The man said that he did knock the coach's hat off and that's when the argument escalated.
Both parties stated that they did not want to pursue any charges and were advised by patrol that a harassment report would be filed.
