Arrest made in Spalding Street shooting

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Lockport Police have made an arrest in connection with the shooting on Spalding Street early Tuesday morning.

Anthony J. Ervin III, 29, Buffalo, was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felony charges.

The victim, Christopher Williams, 44, was shot in the leg around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at 92 Spalding St. and taken to the Erie County Medical Center. He was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

Ervin was arraigned at Lockport City Court Wednesday and was later transported to the Niagara County Jail.

Police are still investigating a shooting on Monday night. At about 8:17 p.m. Monday, police were called to ENH-Lockport for a report of a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The victim is refusing to cooperate with the investigation, Police Chief Larry Eggert said.

The investigation into that incident is ongoing, Eggert said, and anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Lockport Police at 433-7700.
